We often hear that Pilates works you from the inside out, but what a lot of people don’t realize is that this is literally true. Many of the exercises are designed to work all layers of muscle and to help clients achieve a balanced and toned overall muscular system. By stabilizing spine, hips, pelvis, shoulders, head & neck as well as strengthening the core, clients can achieve great flexibility through all of the major muscle groups, and develop that graceful yet athletic look.

Focus is placed on precise movements originating from the center or core of your body. Working from the deepest layers of muscles, which stabilize and support your spine and pelvis, resulting in a strong, flexible spine with ideal posture and alignment. Classes emphasize the foundational principals of Pilates while offering modifications and variations to suit each students individual needs.

There are many health benefits of Pilates.

Pilates reformer:

This sophisticated piece of equipment encourages length through the tissues, but also demands stability, focus and sustained effort. This is achieved through eccentric muscle contractions: the muscle lengthening as it resists force. This is what creates the long, lean bulk-free look Pilates is famous for producing. The perfect marriage of range of motion, strength & stretch brings about a holistic balance in the body.

On the reformer, there is no place for muscular and structural imbalances to hide. This is what makes it so perfect for people working with injuries, and other conditions. It encourages slow & controlled movement sets – the equilibrium of strength, and your body responds over time by correcting for over & under compensations that often are a natural outcropping of injuries & conditions like scoliosis.
